The biography section has no logical organization, but an alphabetized list is at front of the book; no index of illustrations. There is no definition
...
of "Central and Northern" portion of Minnesota; the author implies a "now" in the biographies that we have to intuit. If you are looking for someone who once lived in Hibbing, that person _might_ be there. If you are looking for a local history, there is none. The state history is not entirely eccentric. It is largely based on others' books, but author intrudes to say "I looked into this and here's what I found" about a topic. If you are looking for something, well, work between the digital copy and the hardcover. The gems are in there, but, well be patient. I was excited to find that Father Buh and Samuel R. Brown (son of J.R. Brown) have photos in the book. Worth a look, and It's wonderful to have an online version that is searchable.
